Take a peek at your kitchen counter: any sad, brown bananas sitting there? If that sounds like you, have a look at this easy classic banana bread recipe and thank us later. This recipe creates a delicious banana-y loaf, once you start eating, you’ll have a tough time stopping until it’s all gone.

  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3–4 ripe bananas


  1. Preheat oven at 350°F.
  2. Bring the butter to room temperature. If in a hurry, cut into cubes and microwave for 35 seconds.
  3. In a mixing bowl, mash up the bananas and set aside.
  4. In a separate mixing bowl, mix the butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla together with a spatula or whisk. Once combined, add the flour and mix together with a spatula.
  5. Add the bananas into the flour mixture and mix until combined.
  6. Prepare your loaf pan by smearing butter or spray with baking spray and rub into the surface of the loaf pan.
  7. Pour the banana mixture into the loaf pan and bake until the middle of the loaf has an internal temperature of 190-195°F, about 50-55 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack.
  9. Remove the banana bread from the loaf pan and enjoy.
