INGREDIENTS
  • 3 sticks of butter (12 oz)
  • Zest from 2 oranges
  • 2 Orange Dark or Milk Chocolate Candy bars, chopped (6-7 oz total)
  • 4.5 oz chopped hazelnut
  • 2 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed, brown sugar
  • 6 large eggs, straight from the fridge
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/3 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven at 350°F.
  2. Line a 9 x 13 in anodized aluminum baking pan with foil and grease lightly.
  3. In a 3 or 4 quart stainless steel sauce pan, melt butter over medium-low heat. Once melted, increase heat to medium, stirring and scraping up any brown bits until golden yellow. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped chocolate bars.
  4. Set up your stand mixer with the whisk attachment. In the stand mixer bowl combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, eggs, and vanilla. Whip on medium-high for 8 minutes until thick and fluffy.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa powder, orange zest, and hazelnuts.
  6. Reduce speed of the stand mixer to low and add the butter/chocolate mixture. Once combined, add the flour mixture. Continue mixing until everything is combined.
  7. Pour into the prepared aluminum baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes or to an internal temperature of 205°F.
  8. Cool brownies to room temperature.
  9. Enjoy by themselves or with a side of ice cream.
